Once you have an online shop, the most effective way of getting the word out is through social media. For this, it’s also essential to link your Facebook and other social media accounts to your Etsy shop.

How do you do that? Let me break it down for you.

1. Flaunt your FB ‘like’ button

Put the Facebook ‘Like’ button on your Etsy shop. Visitors to your shop can easily and quickly become Facebook fans. Your Facebook updates will appear on the newsfeed of your fans/customers, reminding them of your shop and products. This will help build your brand and increase your reach.

To do this, you need to have:

Here’s what you have to do:

  • Sign into Facebook using your Facebook personal profile.
  • Go to Etsy.com.
  • Place your mouse on the ‘Your shop’ link towards the top right corner of the Etsy homepage.
  • From the drop-down menu, go to ‘Shop settings’ (second from the bottom), and click on ‘Info and appearances’.
  • Scroll down to the ‘Links’ section and click on ‘Connect with Facebook’.

  • A list of all the Facebook business pages that you are admin of will appear. Click on the one you would like to connect your Etsy shop to. *If you only manage one page, the shop will automatically connect to that one.*
  • If you want to connect to a new business account, you can edit this any time.

2. Link your FB page to your shop

‘About’ sections are hard to write. But they are so important.

Customers like to know whom they are purchasing products from. The ‘About’ section lends authenticity. If you have been ignoring filling this in, learn how to write a brilliant About section that’ll help your sales. From here, you can directly link potential customers to your FB page.

Here’s how:

  • Go to Etsy.com.
  • Place your mouse on the ‘Your shop’ link towards the top right corner of the Etsy homepage.
  • From the drop-down menu, go to shop settings (second from the bottom), and click on ‘About your shop’.
  • The default page that pops up is ‘Members’. Click on the tab titled ‘Story’ next to it.

  • Scroll down to the bottom of this page. You will find a ‘Shop Links’ section.
  • Choose ‘Facebook’ under ‘Link types’ and put in the URL of your Facebook business page.
  • Don’t forget to click ‘Save’ at the bottom of the page!

3. ‘Shop Now’ on Facebook

Facebook business pages have really made it easier to get sales. You can turn random browsers into potential customers by taking them straight to your store from your page. Here’s the low-down:

  • Right under the cover image area of your page, you will find a blue box that says ‘Add a Button’.

  • Once you click on it, a number of options will appear.

  • And voila, your shop is ready!

4. Promote your products on Facebook

Now that both your Etsy shop and your Facebook business page are linked to each other, you need to push out your products to your fans/followers. It’s not enough to just have people ‘like’ or ‘follow’ your page. If your fans do not actively engage with your page, your page updates will not show up on their news feed. So they won’t be actually getting any notification of what you’re posting.

To make sure you are making the most out of your business page, post regularly. Let your fans see your products. The more they see them, the more likely they are to click on ‘Shop Now’.

5. Engage your audience

While it is important to push out your products to your potential customers, too much of promotional content can backfire. Keep in mind that your content should engage your audience. If your audience finds your content engaging enough, they will look out for you. An engaged audience-turned-customer base will raise your sales.

However, finding engaging content for your audience on a daily basis is not a simple task. An easy way to navigate this problem is to curate content, not just create it. Pick up anything you like from around the web, that you like and that you think your audience with enjoy, and share it across your social media.

Once your store is linked to your social channels and vice versa, you’ll be pulling in customers from all platforms and your sales will get rolling quicker than you’d expected.

IMPORTANT UPDATE:

While getting found on Etsy is crucial, it’s also important not to ignore other channels. One channel which can get you high returns is Social Media.

But Social media either means ads (which are expensive) or engaging content (which is time consuming), right?
