What is a supplementary feed? Why should I use one?

One of the reasons that new catalog ads don’t perform well is that these catalogs do not have campaign-level learnings (view and click data, etc.), as opposed to catalogs that have already spent ad dollars.

Using a supplementary feed allows you to continue to use your existing and well-performing catalogs, but with the added design capabilities of Socioh’s Branded Catalogs — so your catalog creatives are always on-brand, attractive, and highlight the correct information for every promotion.

At Socioh, we highly recommend you use a supplementary feed for your catalog if that catalog was made outside of Socioh and already has campaign learnings.

To do this, go to the “Catalogs” tab on the left panel. Here, you can view all catalogs, including those made outside Socioh, so long as they are connected to your connected account:

Now, select your catalog and click on the three dots under it to select “Add supplementary feed”:

Some other uses of supplementary feeds can be adding multiple languages (or currencies) if you advertise in diverse locations. This function is still in Beta in Socioh and is housed inside the catalog editor:

Wondering if supplementary are supported by Meta? Yes, they are. Here’s what Meta says about supplementary feeds:

“Supplementary feeds provide product information that supplements one or more of your primary data feeds. If you manage your items on a partner platform like Shopify, a supplementary feed can enhance them with additional attributes for selling on Facebook and Instagram that your partner platform may not support.”
